Description:
The form of the sculpture is influenced by the geographical outline of the area served by the Kansas City Police Department. The colours blue, gold and red come from the traditional colours associated with law enforcement. One side is blue and the other gold with the patrol boundaries outlined in complimentary gold and blue. Station locations are indicated by small glass squares with the large red “dot” indicating the station where the sculpture sits. The stacked glass that sits between the two pieces of steel represents the bedrock that lies just beneath the surface of the station. Overall, the composition is bold, straightforward, honest, dignified and orderly, words that describe what the Kansas City Police Department is all about.
Sculpture is 12' tall x 7' wide by 2' deep and weighs approximately 3.5 tons.
Part of the City of Kansas City's One Percent for the Arts Program.
