AKA Fountain of Life, Commerce Tower Fountain, Commerce Tower Sunken Garden Fountain
As of 2016, this fountain no longer exists. The sculpture has been relocated to Powell Gardens.
A small portion of nature amidst an urban space, this sunken garden is next to Commerce Tower in downtown Kansas City. In the middle of the garden is this fountain designed by George Tsutakawa. In the middle of the fountain is a bronze abstract sculpture inspired by a lotus blossom that resembles a flower right before it blooms. Vertical jets of water are propelled through the center which fan out over and through the petals of the flower.
