AKA Wild Boar of Florence, Little Pig, Il Porcellino
The Wild Boar of Florence was first cast in bronze in 1857 by Italian artist Benelli. This larger than life bronze boar sitting on the forest floor surrounded by turtles, snails, frogs and bugs is one of two early reproductions by Marinelli Studios of Florence. The boar sits on an acrylic panel that contains slots for dropping coins to be donated to Children's Mercy Hospital. The entire sculpture sits on a limestone pedestal. A second Boar is in the Prairie Village, KS Shopping Center.
