Description:
The left hand is the hand closest to the heart and it the hand that supports the world. This is the message that this sculpture is meant to convey. It is a reminder in the community about the importance and need to help others. On the west face of the base is a plaque showing the symbol of the Rotary Club and it's motto, "Service Above Self." On the east face is a plaque showing the four questions one should ask oneself about the things we think, say or do.
The Shawnee Rotary Club worked for two years to create the sculpture and it was originally dedicated to the eradication of polio. It was also created to help commemorate the Rotary International's centennial in 2005.
