Description:

A granite sculpture of a World War I doughboy stands at attention atop a column of red marble at the Clay County Courthouse in downtown Liberty. It is a memorial to the heroic achievements of Clay County men that served in World War I.

It was originally dedicated in 1921 at the old courthouse in Liberty. When the old courthouse was demolished in 1934, it was relocated to its current home at the then-new courthouse.
