Copper Hopper Chopper

Owner: City of Overland Park

Artist: David Seitzinger

Dates: 2005

Medium: Copper and fiberglass

Description:

This sculpture shows what could happen if frogs could escape their habitat with the things that people throw away and how would they do so. It is found in the Children's Garden area of the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It keeps watch over the nearby Frog Pond. It is a kinetic sculpture, the rotors can turn in the wind as can the entire sculpture on its mount, making it essentially a giant weather vane.
